animation
updated: September 4, 2003

Animations are used for many things. You may see animations on the internet as web sites or advertisements or may see an animation on tv in the form of a cartoon. There are many ways to make animations for the web. Many animations you see are animated gifs. These files are simply a stack of several images merged together to serve as frames. Programs such as Macromedia Flash use vector based graphics and allow you to set up "keyframes", which are important frames in an animation where movement will begin or end. Then you can tween, or animate in the steps in between keyframes. Below are some tutorials and activities for Flash to get you started in the world of animation.
