What is an Anchor?
Anchors mark a place on a webpage that you can jump to later using a link with the # symbol.

How do they work?
Here's an example:

How do you make them?

  1. First, make a section at the bottom of your page that you want to jump to, such as "Information". Then click on the left side of your title "Information" and go to the "Insert" menu and select "Named Anchor" Anchor symbol in DreamWeaver . (See Figure 1)



  2. Name your anchor something that makes sense, but keep it lower case and without spaces:




  3. Now, at the top of your page, type the words "Jump to information section". Then highlight the words and make it a link to "#information" in the Properties box as shown in the figure below:




  4. That's it! Push F12 to view your page in Netscape and test it out.
